Building Automation.CommVergent.com: Lessons Learned from the Ground Up

August 25, 2025

When I began building Automation.CommVergent.com, CommVergent Automation was already an LLC I used for sideline IT and automation work. I had arrangements with suppliers (Dell, Microsoft, Synnex) and existing branding, including a logo. What I didn't have was a modern web stack: my background was primarily MVC and C#, and I had little exposure to React or the JavaScript ecosystem. The early steps were a steep learning curve—standing up a development environment, managing dependencies, and setting up a server to publish to.

I didn't take this journey alone. I leaned on an AI assistant to write the code, propose ideas, and handle the technical implementation, while I focused on steering the project, making decisions, and refining the business direction. This collaboration allowed me to quickly go from a blank slate to a working, professional site.

Learning the Framework

My AI partner generated React components, fixed bugs, and guided setup while I learned just enough to understand and adjust. The hardest part wasn't the code itself—it was navigating tools like Node, npm, routing, and deployment pipelines.

Branding the Experience

Since the LLC already had a logo and brand colors, my role was steering consistency: ensuring the #8B0E0E red and typography choices worked together. The AI produced layout ideas while I selected the ones that best reflected CommVergent's mission: "Simplify IT. Secure Your Business. Automate Workflows."

Features Delivered

  • Service landing pages (/m365, /automation, /dell)
  • Contact form + routed thank-you page
  • Lead magnet: IT Automation Checklist
  • Blog system (this post is proof!)
  • SEO basics: sitemap, robots.txt, OpenGraph

Takeaways

The foundation was already there—an LLC, supplier relationships, and branding. What the website added was a professional, discoverable platform. By combining AI-driven coding with my own strategic guidance, I was able to ship a site that reflects CommVergent's value to SMB clients.
